Chance Hayden: A Jazz Tribute to Sgt. Pepper at 50
Tickets on sale beginning July 12 at 12pm.
Guitarist, producer, composer and arranger Chance Hayden unveils a carefully crafted tribute celebrating The Beatles iconic, eighth studio album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart’s Club Band at it’s 50th anniversary. While jazz artists have long translated songs of the Fab Four, seldom have such specific recaps been executed. The wildly creative blueprint of Sgt. Pepper’s prevails as both a timeless model of art music and a sturdy platform for further exploration. Hayden stretches the album’s colorful diversity with eclectic jazz rhythms, extended harmony and open improvisation.
For over a decade Chance Hayden has maintained an active presence as a stalwart musician throughout the Rose City. Since graduating from the PSU Jazz Studies program his talents have supported local luminaries including Darrell Grant, Farnell Newton and Devin Phillips along with national artists such as Lindsey Webster, Maimouna Youssef and Mycle Wastman. Hayden garnered international exposure touring throughout fifteen countries alongside Jarrod Lawson with highlights including Holland’s North Sea Jazz Festival, Japan’s Billboard Live and the incredibly unique opportunity of a birthday celebration for Stevie Wonder. Hayden’s work as a composer has charted through his debut album The Family Tree, from which his songs “Lifetime of Gold” and “Fathers Day” have earned respective placements in Sony Pictures’ #1 Box Office film The Perfect Guy and the critically acclaimed television series Being Mary Jane (BET). Hayden’s second album, Get Somethin’, is currently in post-production and expected for an early 2018 release.
“Having turned 30 just moments ago and fluent in multiple genres, Hayden is ready to display the results of many years’ listening, learning, teaching, practicing and performing.” – Tom D’Antoni, Oregon Music News/KMHD Jazz Radio
