"A balance of super-articulate proficiency against a gut-level expression of groove " — The New York Times

Making their debut in 2015 with their self-titled album, Dave Holland’s Aziza quartet is a true all-star assemblage of jazz heavyweights, established bandleaders and composers who represent the world standard. Lionel Loueke is easily one of the most identifiable and esteemed guitarists in jazz, best known as a member of Herbie Hancock’s working band, for his work with Terence Blanchard, and his eight acclaimed sessions as a leader. A prolific artist and one of the most in-demand drummers on the national scene, Houston-born Eric Harland was a longtime member of the SFJAZZ Collective and has played on more than 80 recordings with artists including McCoy Tyner, Terence Blanchard, Charles Lloyd and Zakir Hussain. Combining Loueke’s West African guitar approach and Potter’s bebop acuity with the hip-hop influenced virtuosity of Harland’s drumming, the band strikes “a balance of super-articulate proficiency against a gut-level expression of groove.” (The New York Times)
