Leonard Cohen Tribute Concert: Call for Musicians

THE GIFT OF A GOLDEN VOICE: LEONARD COHEN TRIBUTE CONCERT / CALL FOR MUSICIANS

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH 19 AT MIDNIGHT.

We are looking for Central KY musicians to perform in a Leonard Cohen Tribute Concert on Saturday, November 11 at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. This will be a special occasion with an attentive audience (venue seats 450) in a beautiful space with good acoustics and professional sound support.

Final details of the program are still to be determined but here are some initial plans:

• Performers will be chosen by a juried selection process. We expect to choose 6 - 8 acts with each performing two songs at the concert.
• Compensation will be $250 for each act. Individual performers, duos, bands and choirs are encouraged to apply.
• We are open to all sorts of interpretations of Cohen’s catalog---acoustic, blues, jazz, a cappella, rock, punk, choral, instrumental, soul/R&B, Latin/world music, etc.
• If interested in performing in the tribute, please upload to YouTube (or other site/server) links to audio or video files of your performances of 2 Leonard Cohen songs, or email audio files. Email links or files (links preferred) with COHEN in the subject line to us at mhurst@fpclex.org by March 19. Artists will be notified by March 31, 2017.
• Since there is a possibility of artists submitting the same songs, if you are selected we cannot guarantee you'll be asked to perform your top 2 preferences. Please list 2 other Cohen songs in your email that you would consider performing.
• Recordings (whether audio or video) must be "live," with no use of studio resources (such as overdubbing) that would not be available in a live performance.
• First Presbytarian Church will provide the funding for artists’ stipends, sound technician and sound equipment. A collection will be taken up the night of the concert with all of the proceeds being donated to a local non-profit organization (TBD).
• A staffed merchandise table will be available for artists to sell their CDs/albums. Artist will receive all proceeds from their sales.
