Strange Matter and Anthems of The Undesirable are excited and proud to announce a show that will blow the minds of powerviolence and noise heads up and down the East Coast.
IRON LUNG have been one of the driving forces of American powerviolence since 1999. The two-piece act originally formed in Reno in 1999, and over the course of two decades, three full lengths, and dozens of splits, EPs, collaborations, and mixtapes, they have relocated to Seattle and San Fransisco, and established themselves as one of the hardest working and most consistent punk bands in the world.
BASTARD NOISE was formed by Eric Wood, Henry Barnes, and W.T. Nelson, as a companion act to Man Is The Bastard. The project was designed to explore more sonically harsh and abstract possibilities than punk and hardcore’s parameters would allow. Between their progressive politics, prolific output, and the sheer quality of their material, Bastard Noisequickly established themselves as staple of the international powerelectronics scene. Over their years, they have collaborated with renowned acts such as Merzbow, The Gerogerigegege, Government Alpha, and many more – most frequently as a collective. Only in recent years though, Wood has begun to perform indepenently, with live sets focusing on what have been deemed Insect War Electronics and his incomparable and intense vocals. This performance will be the first time Wood performs in Virginia since Man Is The Bastard came to Richmond in 1996, and is Bastard Noise’s exclusive East Coast performance this year. Similarly, this evening is an exclusive, one-off show for Iron Lung, who are making the trip because of the bananas lineup we’ve put together.
Toronto’s INTENSIVE CARE (ex-Column of Heaven, Endless Blockade, etc.) will also join us, in only their second excursion into the States thusfar. This two piece act focuses on some of the ugliest and least accessible aspects of noise-rock, musique concrete, industrial, and noise – composing a blunt force that’s rhythmic but nearly abstract. The unindated can check out their recently released Voyeurism12” on Anthems of The Undesirable or last years’ This Is Exactly Who You Are 7” on Iron Lung.
Locally we've rounded it out with poweviolence/noise legends who need no introduction, the infamous SUPPRESSION as well as up-and-coming hardcore/metal powerhouse LISTLESS!!
