Spokane Is Reading 2017 (evening)

This event is free and open to the public.

Spokane Is Reading has announced the novel and author selected for 16th annual community reading event in 2017: A Land More Kind Than Home by Wiley Cash.

A Land More Kind Than Home, a New York Times Best Seller, is a tale of courage in the face of cruelty and about the power of love to overcome the darkness that lives in us all. The New York Times says Wiley Cash’s debut is a “mesmerizing first novel” and an “intensely felt and beautifully told story.” The Cleveland Plain Dealer remarked “Evocative and quietly chilling, this novel of trust misplaced and love gone wrong is reason to hope for more from Wiley Cash.”

Spokane Is Reading is a community reading event designed to encourage reading. It is one of the longest-running community reads in the state of Washington. Over the years, Spokane Is Reading has celebrated authors who include Sherman Alexie, Jess Walter, Laurie R. King, Chris Cleave, Kent Haruf, and Maria Semple. Generous support for Spokane is Reading comes from the Friends of the Library groups in Spokane County and the City of Spokane as well as a grant from Humanities Washington. Spokane Is Reading is a collaborative effort of Spokane County Library District, Spokane Public Library, and Auntie’s Bookstore.
