SPECIAL NOTE: The play is considered a Southern Gothic with intense subject matter involving loss of innocence, racial inequity including racial epithets. Florence Little Theatre would like to express that we are producing the literary classic, because it is a classic, but also as a way to spread the need for tolerance and the stand against prejudice.
DIRECTED BY Steve Mapes
DESCRIPTION This timely play addresses issues of childhood, tolerance, bigotry, class, courage, compassion, hate, and gender roles in the 1930’s American Deep South. The story focuses on young tomboy Scout Finch, who lives with her older brother, Jem, and their widowed father, Atticus, a middle-aged lawyer. A classic that warms the heart and saddens the soul at different times.
