June 27 July 1 Tacoma & Puyallup Day Camp: Wilderness Skills Sampler

This special, 5-day camp (run through Puyallup Parks & Recreation and listed in their Summer Activity Guide) provides campers with an overview of the skills Wolf Camp teaches. If an interest is sparked, participants can register for other day camp weeks where focused themes are presented, including Wildlife Search & Rescue, Wilderness Survival Craft and Wild Cooking and Herbology. Ages 9 and up can also choose from our overnight camp themes.

Camp Itinerary (9:30 - 3:30):

Our day camps include optional wading/swimming and games/archery during lunchtime, depending on park rules, camper safety tests, weather and other conditions.

Monday Itinerary:

Morning Session: Wildlife Safety & Nature Awareness Skills
Lunchtime: Choice of Swimming, Archery & Nature Games (depending on park rules; bring lunch)
Afternoon Session: Natural Navigation plus Map & Compass

Tuesday Itinerary:

Morning Session: Literal Language of the Birds
Lunchtime: Choice of Swimming, Archery & Nature Games (depending on park rules; bring lunch)
Afternoon Session: Tracking & Trailing Animals

Wednesday Itinerary:

Morning Session: Wilderness Survival including Emergency Shelters
Lunchtime: Choice of Swimming, Archery & Nature Games (depending on park rules; bring lunch)
Afternoon Session: Traditional Fire Making including the Bow Drill & Fire Steel

Thursday Itinerary:

Morning Session: Wild Edible Food Plants & Critters
Lunchtime: Choice of Swimming, Archery & Nature Games (depending on park rules; bring lunch)
Afternoon Session: Wild Plants for Medicine & Craft

Friday Itinerary:

Morning Session: Rawhide Drums to Leather Pouches: Traditional Animal Hide Crafts
Lunchtime: Choice of Swimming, Archery & Nature Games (depending on park rules; bring lunch)
Afternoon Session: Orienteering & Geocache Scavenger Hunt

Complimentary extended care (8:00 - 9:30am and 3:30 - 5:00pm) is available.

Pick-up/Drop-off:

Drop off directly at Clark’s Creek Park – South Entrance, 1700 12th Ave. SW in Puyallup. No transportation offered the week of June 22-26. Complimentary transportation is available the week of July 20-24 only from Eatonville, Graham & South Hill. Inquire for details.

Tuition:

$265 for Puyallup City Residents; $295 for Non-Residents. To qualify for a resident discount, participants must live within the incorporated city limits of Puyallup. A Puyallup mailing address does not necessarily qualify an individual as a Puyallup resident. Registration Options:

Registration is now open for this special camp being run through the Puyallup Parks & Recreation department. Our camp will be listed in the Summer Activity Guide or register over the phone with a credit card at (253) 841-5457 or in person payable to the City of Puyallup at the Puyallup Recreation Center, 808 Valley Avenue N.W. Full payment for all classes and programs is due at time of registration. All registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
